Named after our very first employee and now shop manager. We designed the Bridget with the romantic, yet adventurous bride in mind. The sweetheart bodice is flattering on almost any shape or size, and while it is a bit of a traditional silhouette, the silvery beaded lace bodice and draped panel skirt are just edgy and unique enough for a downtown warehouse wedding or Joshua Tree elopement.
Bridal shop owner and designer Maria married David almost three years to the day after their first date – which was, believe it or not, Valentine’s Day. After a traditional ceremony in Los Angeles’ oldest cathedral, East and West Coast families and friends collided in a disco-meets-prom, dance-til-you-sweat-out-the-open-bar bash at the HNYPT.
Maria knew from the start that she would be making her own dress. She was immediately drawn to the classic silhouettes of the 1950’s and 60’s, but wanted a modern, edgy twist.
Who’s cuter than these kiddos?
The space, the occasion, and the art direction informed Maria’s gold-studded princess gown, her Westeros-esque hair piece (Heart of Gold), and the contrasting sleek, sequined dresses of her two bridesmaids – all designed and hand-constructed by Maria.
The up-and-coming warehouse venue in Downtown Los Angeles ignited on an unseasonably warm February night. The rustic white brick and vaulted white wood ceilings were a canvas for a dazzling DIY mirror ball installation and gold, silver, and hot pink accents throughout that celebrated both Valentine’s Weekend and the couple’s non-traditional aesthetic –“Deco-Space-Bowie,” as Maria puts it. With the help of family and friends, the couple designed, planned, and executed the entire reception themselves.
With the In-N-Out Trailer serving up all-you-can-eat Animal Style, Love Tempo DJs keeping the dance floor packed all night with hits from the Dianna Ross to Rick Ross, the merriment was so high-energy that an after party was not physically possible.
